The arrival of Sunday, April 28th, ushered in a picture-perfect spring day, a gentle warmth embracing the air as we gathered for our annual St. George's Day lunch
The day was made all the more special by the exceptional quality of the food and the wonderful company that graced our gathering. Delicious aromas filled the air, a testament to the culinary efforts that went into making the lunch a resounding success. We offer our thanks to the team from Tiffin's for a spectacular feast.
However, the St. George's Day lunch is more than just a pleasant social occasion. It serves as a meaningful opportunity to give back to our local community. This year, we were particularly honoured to welcome representatives from two truly remarkable organisations: Barton Camp and The Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled.
These two charities were carefully selected as the beneficiaries of the funds raised during our annual Farmers Night, in December. It was with immense pride that we were able to present each charity with a donation of £1,100. These funds represent the collective generosity of our community and will directly support the invaluable work that both Barton Camp and The Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled undertake.
Barton Camp provides enriching and memorable outdoor experiences for disadvantaged young people. Their dedication to offering opportunities for adventure, learning, and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment is truly inspiring. The donation will help them continue to provide these life-changing experiences, fostering resilience, teamwork, and a connection with nature in the lives of those who need it most.
Similarly, The Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled makes a profound difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities through the therapeutic power of horses. Their dedicated team provides riding lessons and other equine-assisted activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. The donation will contribute to the upkeep of their facilities and horses, ensuring they can continue to offer these vital services that empower and enrich the lives of so many.
The presence of representatives from both charities at our St. George's Day lunch provided a poignant reminder of the tangible impact of our community's generosity. It was a privilege to hear first-hand about the dedication and passion that drive their work and the positive changes they bring to the lives of disadvantaged individuals in our local area.
