Walking for Weston Hospice Care
Walking for Weston Hospice Care
The spirit of community and remembrance is strong amongst the brethren as one member prepares to take on the Mendip Challenge 2025 on Sunday, June 1st, in loving memory of his wife, Wendy.
In a heartfelt message shared with his fellow brethren, he recounted the compassionate and invaluable care Wendy received at Weston Hospicecare during her final ten weeks. Wendy sadly passed away on June 12th last year after a courageous battle with cancer. Deeply grateful for the "incredible" 24-hour support provided by the hospice staff, her husband is determined to give back and ensure other patients can benefit from the same high-quality care.
To honor Wendy's memory and raise crucial funds for Weston Hospicecare, he will be participating in a challenging 20-mile hike across the Mendip Hills as part of the Mendip Challenge 2025. This annual event sees many take to the scenic trails to support the hospice, which provides vital palliative care to the local community.
He has created a JustGiving page for "Wendy's Wanderers" and is humbly asking for any contribution his brethren can make. To support such a worthy cause or to find out more about the valuable work Weston Hospice Care does, click on the links included on this page.
This act of dedication exemplifies the strong bonds within the brotherhood and their commitment to supporting those in need within their community. As the Mendip Challenge approaches, let us rally behind our brother and help him make a meaningful difference in Wendy's name.
UPDATE
Wendy's Wanders completed the 20 mile walk in less than 10 hours, completing the challenge to cross the finish line at 6:45pm. Iain sends his heartfelt thanks to all that supported him in this challenge and is pleased to share that they have raised around £2000 for Weston Hospice Care.
